The trout bite at Lake Cachuma is still going strong, they are catching Calaveras rainbows to 7 lbs. Anyone who flat-lined a Rapala, Kastmaster or needlefish near the northern shores was treated to some very good fishing. It was quality over quantity although numerous limits were reported. The average weight of the fish caught was around 3 lbs., with many anglers landing 'bows in the 5 to 6 lb. class. Shore anglers were doing better over at E point, the marina point and the Mohawk fishing pier.

There was some largemouth activity as well. Those after the bass were able to scratch limits on jigs, drop shot and spoons. Catfish as usual were found wherever there was run-off entering the lake. Fly-lined 'crawlers was the top bait for the kitties. There are still some carp to be found in the shallows but they seem to be a bit more spooky than usual. A stealthy approach is a must for any success. Panfish were absent from the count.
