Trout limits were the norm at Cachuma Lake this past week, some good Catfish action as well

Cachuma Lake Staff
Last Thursday's 4,000 lb. plant from Calaveras Trout Farm provided limit style action for most anglers. The best spots were from shore near Marina Point and Drake's Cove. The best bait to use was either PowerBait or inflated crawlers were both catching fish to 6 lbs. Trollers also did well. They flat-lined Rapalas and Kastmasters in the same areas.
Catfish also provvided action for those who targeted them. Jackrabbit flats and Johnsons Bay were the preferred locations. Cut bait and shrimp were the top bait choices.
The Bass bite began to show sins of life but the recent storm seems to have shut that bite down some. A handful of incidental Crappie were the only panfish reported. Bowfishing is good in the backs of coves and main lake shorelines.
