Hello from your Lake Jennings!:
We will continue to be open every day thru January 6th 5:45 until 5:15 PM. The trout bite is best if you are a baiter rather than a metal chucker. The key continues to be use 1 and 1⁄2 oz. of sliding sinker so that you can reach the deep water. We had a couple of cat catchers targeting the dam buoyline. A couple of bass were caught accidently by trouters plying nightcrawlers.
Best Catfish Spots: Cloister Cove and anywhere along the dam buoyline Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel and chicken livers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: 25 to 35 ft. of water on the points
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Ikas, Morning Dawn worms or creature baits
Best Trout Spots: Hermit Cove at the concrete steps and Cactus Patch in 50 ft of water.
Best Trout Bait: The bait that catches the most trout is a 3 way tie: Salmon peach, rainbow Power Bait and crawlers.
Prognosis: We will stock another 1000 lbs. of Sierra 'Bows on Thursday Jan. 3, 2013. The water temp is 59 and is ideal for active trout. If you want bass fish throw a swimbait. You'll get 1 or 2 or none. The ones you do catch will be larger than average...Don't stop fishing for cats because the water is cold. Just fish deep!
