Catfish have been the most active at Lake Cachuma, Bass fishhing is spotty
10-1-2012
Cachuma Lake Staff
Catfish are still the best bet at Lake Cachuma. Kitties up to 8 lbs. were weighed in at the Marina last week. Mackerel is the bait of choice followed by 'crawlers. The best location for kitties have been Johnson's, Clarks' and Cachuma Bay. Fish have been holding 3' to 15' in the channels.
The bass bite has been a little on the slow side. But there have been some good spots for bass that are more active. Vertical jigging has been effective as well if you can locate an active school. Trout, Crappie and Carp have all been on the slow side. We expect trout plants to begin around the end of the month.
