Wohlford Lake Staff
Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. Open seven days a week.
Dock Closes: 6:30 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday March 7th.
Next Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday March 21st.
Water Temperature: At surface 54.50 f., 5.97 D.O. @ 15' 54.32 f., 5.89 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The Trout fishing is greatly improved as a result of the most recent plant. Currently Boat Dock Cove is the hot spot for Trout. Rene Dodson of Escondido had the largest Trout of the week with a 5.90# fish caught in Oakvale Cove on a plastic worm. Powerbaits & powerworms (greens and yellows) along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.
The Bass bite is beginning to turn on with mostly small to medium sized Bass being brought in. Rod Blunt, pictured of Valley Center caught and released a 5.60# Bass Wednesday on Senior Shoreline. Saturday Kelsey Kennedy of Valley Center weighed in 4.65# Bass he caught on a brush hog also on Senior Shore. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.
