Pontoons float on South Lake just in time for Alpers and Brown Trout Plant!!!!

Low water years present some challenges for the South Lake Boat Landing crew as boats, docks, motors and supplies must be carried down to the water. Getting the ever so popular Pontoon boats in the water at South Lake was the biggest of this year's challenges and I'm happy to announce that as of Friday June 22nd, all three are on the water. A primitive earthen ramp was used to make it happen, but not without the help of two full size trucks and some heavy duty chain to make sure our work truck didn't become a giant anchor. The boats are in just in time for next week's plants. Next week, in addition to the DFG stockings, South Lake will be planting a load of huge Alpers trophy Rainbows as well as some Brown Trout in the 1lb to 1.5lb class. This is the first time in two years that Browns have been planted in South Lake. Guests to the canyon this week found warm summer weather and reports are for more of the same as summer is officially here.
