"Today was spent fishing Alijos Rocks. It didn't take long to jig up our first Wahoo this morning as well as a baitfish, so we had high hopes for the day. We got the anchor down and were treated to very good Tuna fishing. It was not uncommon to have 3 or 4 fish hanging at the same time, most of which were in the 50 to 100-pound class. Sounds good right? Well, the shark problem is still very alive and well out here. Throughout all of our efforts we were only able to land one of the nicer grade Yellowfin. We did pick away at some smaller fish that could be brought to the boat quickly, but if it took more than 50 feet of line it was gone. We also picked up a couple of jumbo Yellows, the big one being in the 50-pound class. Tomorrow will be spent North of here. We would love to stay and give the Rocks our last morning, but we will leave these Tuna to stay and fight another (hopefully shark-less) day."
