Barracuda bite is on in the Santa Monica Bay

It's been about 3 years since we have experienced a barracuda bite like the one going on right now from Santa Monica Bay to below the border. The best fishing seems to be located in the Santa Monica bay, where log barracuda up to 13 pounds have been reported. Huntington Beach also has experienced some fine slime fishing, and just below the border outside the "bullring" the barracuda have been on the bite. Wednesday the San Diego from Seaforth Sportfishing limited out on barracuda by 9am, then ran down to the rock pile and caught 7 yellowtail to 25 pounds. Yesterday was a bit slower, but the good news- the fish are here.

Offshore water conditions look spectacular, according to local captains. Captain Shane Slaughter from the Islander ran a trip to Colonet last weekend and swung outside and saw beautiful conditions, ripe for an early offshore bite.
