High winds and a 20 degree temperature drop affects fishing at Jess Ranch Lakes
5-15-2011
Jess Ranch Lakes Staff
Anglers faced winds and a twenty degree temperature drop as a late spring weather system moved through the high desert. Trout action was fair to good with anglers using Power Bait (salmon peach, rainbow and garlic), night crawlers, jigs and lures to catch limits of trout. Hot spots included the eastern shore and the grassy point of lake 3 as well as the eastern and northern shores of lake 2.
Catfish were hitting PowerBait, night crawlers and shrimp from the western and eastern shores of lake 3 and the eastern shore of lake 2. Bass were biting on night crawlers and senkos from the south eastern shore of lake 2 and the northern shore of lake 3 near the pump house. A few bluegill were caught on meal worms and small jigs near the wall on lake 2.
