Puerto Morelos Fishing Report
10-7-2010
Larry Edwards
A fairly busy week from Puerto Morels that continues to produce a
constant variety of fish for the anglers and offers both, surface and
bottom fishing throughout the area. This past week reflected a total
of 19 days fished with 1 sailfish, 10 Atlantic barracuda, 2 Spanish
mackerel, 38 bonito and 4 king mackerel for the surface fish action
and 33 grouper, 5 mero, 6 triggerfish, 6 mutton snapper and 15
jabones (soap fish) for which I do not know what they are and have
asked for a photo and clarification. I am assuming they are a
bottomfish but have no idea as to what they look like.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days but plenty of sunshine throughout the area with temps from 68 nights to 87 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Generally, very favorable with light surface winds at 5-10 knots and temps holding stable at 84-85 degrees.
Best Bait: The ever available ballyhoo continue to provide the best bite action for the boats from this region.
