Mazatlan Fish Report
5-13-2010
Larry Edwards
A considerably slow week for charters with only 8 offshore fishing trips for the week that produced 2 stripers and 1 sailfish, along with 10 yellowfin tuna. The inshore bite was picking up speed again and the dorado counts were moving back up. The inshore counts for 8 days fished reflected 49 dorado, 5 corvina, 5 pargo and 44 ronchachos, which adds up to some pretty good action fishing on the inshore circuit.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days but intervals of good sunshine and temps from 63 nights to 90 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Mostly calm this week with very light tropical surface breezes and sea temps that ranged from 79 inshore to 82 offshore. Greenish water to about 15 miles and then clearing to blue and very clean.
Best Fishing Area: The dorado are coming from the FADs (buoys) at about 18-20 miles.
Best Bait/Lure: Live bait & strip baits working well for the dorado, along with smaller surface lures and poppers.
Bait Supply: Good supply of rigged baits and live bait
