Puerto Morelos Fish Report
4-1-2010
Larry Edwards
It's the Easter doldrums for fishing throughout the greater Cancun
area, including Puerto Morelos, with everyone on location for Spring
Break/Easter Vacation that unfortunately seems to exclude fishing.
We had only four trips this past week and while the catching was good
on the average, it didn't seem to encourage additional charters. Too
much late night fiesta, I think. However, for the four trips that
were completed the fish counts reflected a good variety that included
3 Atlantic barracuda, 6 red snapper, 1 cabrilla, 2 grouper, 1 Sierra,
1 bonito, 2 mojarres and 16 triggerfish.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps that ranged from 69 nights
to 86 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Some easterly tropical breezes and light surface
wind chop with stable sea temps throughout the area at 80 degrees.
Best Bait: Continues to be the rigged and un-rigged ballyhoo, fresh
caught in the Puerto Morelos area.
