Chad Burton and Chris Borden
This is the second week in a row the Upper Kern was stocked in all three sections. Our contacts reported very good trout fishing along the easy access points of the 20-mile stretch. It’s been reported that trout have been coming on trout jigs, salmon eggs, spinners, and Powerbait. Fly anglers can find them with Nymphs and Steamers later in the day. Next week section 4, Riverside Park in Kernville to Powerhouse #3 will be stocked. The Lower Kern was stocked with trout last week in all three sections, Section 1, Lower Richbar to Democrat Beach, and Section 2, Democrat Beach to Sandy Flat; and Section 3, Sandy Flat to Isabella Dam. Trout have been going for minijigs, salmon eggs and Powerbait. The Lower Kern bass bite is fair to good on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 561 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 409 CFS.
