Fish Report for 2-9-2024

Recent storms pushed Lake Nacimiento above 70 percent

Recent storms pushed Lake Nacimiento above 70 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been decent. Bass anglers targeted spotties in 10 to 50 feet of water with finesse baits and vertical spoons working for bites. Drop shot, shaky heads, and small jigs in brown, dark green, and Aaron’s Magic were good color choices. Blade baits and spoons took deeper bass off the bottom with a vertical presentation. Crappie were difficult to entice, but anglers caught a few on minijigs and small swimbaits. White bass chased threadfin shad in deeper water, and spoons, in-line spinners, and small swimbaits were the way to go. Catfish anglers used cut mackerel and dip bait to land whisker fish.
