The Lower Deschutes is running a bit high at 5800 CFS this morning but fishing well. Our guides have seen increasing numbers of salmon flies on the banks and with the upcoming warm weather look for many more bugs to crawl out and hatch. Nymphing has still been the ticket and jimmy legs, girdle bugs, golden stones, duracells, pheasant tails and an assortment of euro nymphs have all been picking up fish. Squirmies and san juans are also a good idea when the flows are higher than normal. Fish are in tight to the banks snacking on stoneflies as they crawl out of the river. Busting out the trout spey and swinging some crayfish, sculpin, or leech patterns is also a good approach during high flows.
