Fish Report for 10-28-2022
Water temperatures remained in the low seventies
10-28-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Castaic rose to 35 percent of capacity, and water temperatures remained in the low seventies. Trout anglers were surprised by a 1600 pound plant last Friday, and the rainbows were big. Anglers caught the two pound trout on the dough bait, Mouse Tails, Minijigs, and nightcrawlers. Many of the big bait anglers hammered the marina with eight inch trout imitation swimbaits but only a handful of bigger grade bass and striper were reported. Bass anglers found biters deeper in the water column last week, as many of the baitfish have moved into deeper water. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and small jigs all worked for bites in 10 to 25 feet of water. Crankbaits fooled largemouth on main lake points in the mornings. Striper boils have almost disappeared, and anglers have switched to cut sardines and lugworms in 30 to 60 feet of water. Most anglers continue to anchor up at the buoy line. Catfish anglers used dip bait and cut baits to fool fish.
