Fish Report for 10-21-2022
There’s still a fair topwater bite in the mornings
10-21-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake held near 33 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been in the lower seventies. Water clarity is decent in the ski arm, and it’s like chocolate milk closer to Elizabeth canyon. There’s still a fair topwater bite in the mornings, and if you’re lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time you can fill the boat with boiling striper and bass. Most bass anglers worked rocky points with Senkos, topwater, and squarebill crankbaits until mid-morning. After that bass anglers focused on bluff walls and points with drop shot, Keitechs, and Carolina rigged finesse baits. Mudlines formed mid-day, and they provided opportunities for jerkbaits, and shad patterned crankbaits. Striper have been falling for cut sardines and lugworms in 25 to 60 feet of water near the forebay buoy line. Anglers also reported striper on the troll. Catfishing has been good for anglers using dip bait, chicken liver, and cut anchovies on the dam.
