Fish Report for 10-13-2022
Enough fish have been able to make it up river to be worth checking out
10-13-2022
The Fly Shop
The upper river above the Interstate 5 bridge finally has some good numbers of steelhead and salmon spawning. We have not had any firsthand reports on the water clarity in the middle section below the mudslide around Happy Camp. However, enough fish have been able to make it up river to be worth checking out. Best flies this time of year for dead-drifting nymphs are dark stonefly patterns like the Black Rubberlegs. Fish egg patterns below if you are targeting fish sitting behind redds, or red Copper Johns otherwise. Brett's Klamath Intruder in olive and burnt orange is a killer pattern if you are not swinging a Copper Beaded Assassin. As the nights become longer and the temps cooler the Klamath will see more steelhead show up.
We are coming up into prime time for those of you who like to swing flies. We have spots in our Spey Clinic and 3 Day Spey School in November, contact Bryan or Chris in Outfitters if you would like more info.
Hot Flies:
Eggs:
• Clown Egg
• M.C. Redd Reaper - Champagne
• Micro Spawn - Shrimp Pink or Salmon Egg
• Boles Bazookas
Nymphs:
• Pat's Rubberlegs - #4-8
• 3-D Nymphs - #8-10
• Red Copper Johns - #14-18
• Gordon's Amber Wing Prince - #14-18
• Articulated Marabou Leech
