The Twin Lakes fished well in the rain last week
10-29-2021
Fly and Field Outfitters
The Twin Lakes fished well in the rain last week. This week’s weather is similar, just a bit less rain. The bugs and the fish are definitely getting sluggish; however, when the fish see something that excites them they wake up fast. Dry flies are pretty much only useful as indicators at this point in the season. Assassins, bird’s nests, midges, and chironomids are doing well right now, something size 16 or smaller. On cloudy days, a darker pattern does really well. Balanced leeches are an excellent pattern for targeting aggressive fall fish. Stripping leeches and small streamers is always a blast at the Twin Lakes. The snow is coming and it pays to be prepared, bring your emergency snow equipment just in case things get hairy out there.
Suggested Flies: Bird’s Nest Hare’s Ear #14-18, Dark Assassin #14-18, Bird’s Nest Or Black Depth Charge #14-18, Red or Black Zebra Midge #16-18, Black or Red Chironocone #14-18, Flashback PT #14-18, Red or Black Yankee Buzzer #14, Bruised Balanced Leech #10-14, Ruby Leech #10-12, Black Wooly Bugger #10-12, Olive Wooly Bugger #10-12, Black or Rust Slump Buster #10-12, Thin Mint #10-12, Olive or Black BH Mini Leech #12
