Puerto Morelos Fish Report- Marina El Cid, Cancun to Cozumel Area
8-20-2009
Larry Edwards
The giant Atlantic barracuda bite has been excellent during the
past couple of weeks and remains the focus of the action for this
report. According to the fleet's manager, Armando Gutierrez, there
is still an occasional sailfish and blue or white marlin being
taken by the anglers, but the barracuda have been providing a great
deal of the action for our anglers. Overall catches for 6 fishing
days reflected 1 sailfish, 3 king mackerel, 2 Spanish mackerel, 2
bonito, 1 triggerfish, 3 red snapper and 26 barracuda.
PM Climate: Partly cloudy but warm days, temps from 74 nights to 96
daytime highs and humid.
Sea Conditions: Continue to be very good with light tropical
surface breezes and temps at 85-86 degrees throughout the area
Best lure/bait: Ballyhoo continue to be the right bait, both
rigged and un-rigged baits are working well.
