The Crooked River has been fishing really well. Any amount of cloud cover can get the fish more eager to take dry flies, but mornings and evenings are the most consistent. Caddis and pale morning duns are still the stars of the show. Terrestrials are like the backup singer, not essential, but still important. Nymphing has been good with the usual caddis pupa, small mayfly nymphs, midges, and sometimes scuds. Swing some soft hackles around and you can get some fun tightline grabs. Precipitation has been rolling through the region, hopefully this pattern will continue. I would love a quick end to the summer and an early start to fall and winter.
