Fall River fishing has been good. Mornings and evenings are the most productive but the middle of the day isn’t terrible. Cloud cover can really help improve your chances, especially when fishing dries. Pale morning duns, blue wing olives, terrestrials, and caddis around size 16 - 18 are the main hatches. Small mayfly nymphs, midges, and caddis pupa have really good potential under the surface. The Fall doesn’t have an abundance of nutrients which means most of the nymphs are small. Trout are aware of this and don’t often bite large nymph patterns. Late summer rains appear to be here early and I couldn’t be happier about it. Let’s hope for little to no lightning, lots of rain, and nice cool temperatures for the remaining days of the summer.
