Mazatlan Fish Report- The Aries Sportfishing Fleet
6-18-2009
Larry Edwards
The dorado counts continue to explode in Mazatlan, with every boat
reporting limits of dorado and numerous releases at the shark
buoys. We had only two boats fish offshore this week, both on the
same day, (June 16, 2009) the Aries II and the Aries III, reporting 3
sailfish and 12 dorado for their fishing efforts. The remainder of
the fishing days for both the super pangas and the cruisers. totaled
13 combined days and all day action with the dorado. I just can't
over emphasize this annual dorado bite and for anyone fishing light
tackle or fly fishing, these trips are as good as it gets.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy, temps from 75 nights to 92 daytime
highs.
Sea Conditions: Generally, calm, with temps holding at 86 degrees,
inshore to offshore.
Best Fishing Area: The shark buoys for the dorado and about 22-27
miles southwest of the Marina El Cid for the sailfish.
Best Lure/Bait: The dorado are anxious on just about everything that
goes in the water, live bait, strip bait, cut bait, streamers,
feathers, in general, if it moves, it gets bit. Sailfish on the
rigged trolling baits.
