Larry Edwards

Another week of very few fishing trips to report with an accumulated total of 10 fishing days. While the average billfish counts remained at one overall, the bulk of the catch was taken aboard the "Gaviota II", with Captain Freddy Talamantes, reflecting 6 stripers for 4 fishing days. The overall report reflected for a total of 10 fishing days was 9 stripers, (6 released) and 2 dorado, with all fish taken on the Sea of Cortez side of Cabo.

Cabo Climate: Mostly sunny and warm, temps from 68 nights to 95 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Very cool water on the Pacific side that ranged from as low as 58 to 68. From Cabo San Lucas and into the Sea of Cortez, the temps ranged from 74 and increased to 82 by the Gorda Banks.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish are being taken out toward the 1150 fathom spot, but there is no concentration.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best but the fish were lethargic and difficult to get to bite.

Live Bait Supply: A mix of bait, both mackerel and caballitos.
