Mazatlan Fish Report- The Aries Sportfishing Fleet
3-12-2009
Larry Edwards
A little upward trend this week as the water temps reflected a little
increase for the offshore areas and apparently inspired the fish to
react. Overall fish counts for 26 days reflected 16 stripers, 1
sailfish, 13 mako shark and 3 dorado for the offshore fishing. The
inshore fishing for 9 reported days reflected a wide variety of
bottom critters that included 1 corvina, 97 barracuda, limits of
mojarres, 1 mako shark, 25 pargo, 15 burros, 70 cochitos, 5 loras, 1
vaqueta and 35 roncachos.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny and warm condittions, temps from 57
nights to 84 dayttime highs.
Sea Conditions: Inshore temps at 75 and the offshore temps rising to
78 degrees, mostly calm with light surface winds.
Best Fishing Area: There is still no concentration of fish, albeit,
most of the boats are now fishing out to the southwest of the Marina
El Cid, 20-30 miles.
Best Lure/Bait: The slow trolled, rigged mullet, remain the best for
this area and there was no mention of any artificials.
