Puerto Morelos Fish Report- Marina El Cid, Cancun- Cozumel Area
3-5-2009
Larry Edwards
According to Fleet Manager, Armando Gutierrez, the fishing is much
better than the counts reflect. This past week, all trips were 4-
hour charters and while they are fun for those folks that want to get
out on the ocean and wet a line, and catch a fish or two, they just
don't allow sufficient time to locate the better fishing areas that
may change from day to day. Overall counts for the 8 charters
reflected 6 king mackerel, 4 Atlantic barracuda, 2 dorado and 1 grouper.
Puerto Morelos Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 66 nights
to 84 daytime highs. Very pleasant climate conditions.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps warmed up a little and back to 80 degrees
throughout the area. Light tropical surface breezes of 10-15 knots
with a light wind chop but no swell.
Best Bait: Remains the rigged ballyhoo, the mainstay of the food
supply for this area.
