The Cabo San Lucas Fish Report- The Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet and Fish Cabo Fleet

7-24-2008
Larry Edwards

High boat for the week was the "Fish Cabo", reporting in for 1 fishing day, yesterday, reflecting 1 blue marlin released, 3 stripers released and 4 dorado. In talking with the owner, Roberto Marquez, he told me that the bite had taken off on the Pacific side, at least for the day, but he expected it to continue for awhile with the warmer currents being pushed in by the offshore hurricanes. The overall combined fish counts for the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet & Fish Cabo Fleet, for 36 fishing days reflected 1 blue marlin released, 13 stripers, (11 released) 16 dorado, 1 shark, 2 giant squid, 10 yellowfin tuna and 8 dog toothed snapper.

Cabo Climate: Temps from 75 nights to 97 daytime highs, with a sun/ cloud mix over the area.

Sea Conditions: Water temps are warming up with the passing hurricanes pushing in new & warmer waters. Temps range from 83 at the Jaime Bank on the Pacific side to 87 a the Gorda Banks on the Sea of Cortez side.

Best Fishing Area: The "Golden Gate Bank" has been the hot-spot for the week.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait and artificials are both working well on the Pacific side.

Live Bait Supply: Mostly caballitos, but good supply.
