Lake Camanche's current elevation is 195.08 feet above sea level, a drop of .68 feet this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 272c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina is 79 degrees.
PLANTS:
As the water has warmed, there are no trout plants scheduled until fall.
TROUT:
Trout trollers continue to catch nice trout at Lake Camanche, but you have to go down fairly deep to get to most of them. Ron Wilson, from Modesto, and Ken Moore, from Ripon caught a number of fine trout on Wednesday. They began at 6 a.m. at Hat Island and trolled to the dam, starting at 25 feet deep. They had a double hookup right away, and caught fish on watermelon Apex, blue/silver Ex-Cels, and hoochies behind a dodger. Ron said the best fish came later in the day, from 35-45 feet deep.
Les Emigh, from Lodi caught some very nice trout this week while fishing with his buddy Gene. They hooked and landed an 8 pound trout, near the dam, while trolling with a Needlefish in the bikini pattern.
One group of anglers reported catching 6 trout and one bass while trolling with a Rapala lure in silver/black. They were near the dam, and caught the fish about 20 feet deep early in the morning, and 30 feet later in the day.
Kiefer McAfee reported catching several nice trout up to 3 ?? pounds while fishing near the dam. He was using chartreuse Power Bait, and was fishing 30-35 feet deep.
BASS:
We have scheduled our annual bass plant of Florida strain largemouth bass for next Sunday, June 29th. The fish will be arriving at Lake Camanche about 11 a.m., and we will be happy to have any volunteers, with boats, who would be willing to take buckets of baby bass to different areas of the lake.
Dennis Baird, from Sacramento, caught a number of very nice catfish while he was trolling for bass on Tuesday. He caught one 6 pounder, two 5 pounders, and one 4 pounder. He also caught several bass that day, and caught his fish while trolling with night crawlers near The Narrows.
CATFISH:
Camanche regular Bruce Jennings, from Daly City, caught 5 nice catfish, up to 4-5 pounds, on Friday night. He was fishing in a small rocky cove in the upper lake area, and was using chicken liver for bait.
Chris Cobb, from Antioch, caught the big catfish of the week here at Camanche when he landed a 9 pound "cat" that he caught while fishing near South Shore. He caught his fine fish on clams.
