GENERAL CONDITIONS:
Water level is around 4 feet below full. Afternoon winds have been showing up around 3 p.m. Water clarity around the lake is generally good with 8-10 feet of visibility and the temp is in the mid 60's. We received our first catfish plant of the season, 500 lbs. from the hatchery in Red Bluff. There are still plenty of trout out here and both trolling and fishing on shore are going well.

HOURS:
The Cafe and Marina are open 7 days a week from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM; boat rentals start at 6:30 AM and stop at 5:00 PM; boats are due in at 6:00 PM.

PLANTS:
Weekly trout plants continue with another plant from Mt. Lassen Trout Farms. This week we expect 500 lbs of catfish from the hatchery at Red Bluff. Stop by the Marina for our complete weekly planting schedule.

TROUT:
Limits of trout are still coming in but you have to get out on the water early because the bite slows down when it starts to warm up. The Charity Trout Derby ended with 14 lbs caught Luis Vazquez by the Island for first place. Congratulations!

Marco Jr. Verdin from Oakland caught a 6.82 at Bass cove using white Power Eggs,; Bradley and Makenzie of San Lorenzo got both of their limits early on the Power Eggs as well at Coot's Landing. The fishing has been most productive from the Burner on down towards the dam. If you have any questions or you're new at fishing come by the marina and one of our staff will help you out.

BASS:
Bass fishing is picking up but they aren't biting on reaction baits yet. Use worms and jigs on the bottom. Look for better fishing once all the cold fronts move through. A lot of fish have spawned so the males are in protect mode and the females are headed back out to deeper water.

Catch and release is appreciated - we do not stock bass and their population depends on you. Thanks to Waltons Pond, livewells are provided.

CATFISH:
Catfish stocking starts this week with a plant of 500 lbs. Cat fishing is picking up with the warmer water and people are catching close to limits in Honker Bay. We will be getting our first catfish plant of the season later this week.

The first whopper Catfish of 2008 came in and weighed in at a massive 29 lbs. The very next day an unknown angler landed a 16 lb'r using mackerel and fishing over at Honker Bay.

When fishing at night the best spots on the lake are the first dock on both the west and east shore trail. Also, try Racoon Point. A sliding sinker or weightless setup is the best technique for fishing for catfish.
