The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Fish Report- The Independent Fleet

5-29-2008
Larry Edwards

Windy conditions, coupled with very light angling activity, made for a short fishing report last week in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo. Our captains did report some fair to better than average Sailfish activity along with some Marlin as well. The Yellowfin Tuna are reported to be beyond the 50 mile mark. Inshore the action is mixed with Chulas, Spanish Mackerel and some Roosterfish and Jacks in the Mix. First time visitor to I/Z , Mr. Ross had an action packed inshore day aboard the Dos Hermanos 1 landing 1 nice Roosterfish, loosing 2 other along with 5 Spanish Mackerel, 4 YellowTail Jacks, 2 Pompano and numerous Bonitos. On His second day Mr. Ross decided to go Offshore with Captain Adolofo and after landing 1 Sailfish just after leaving the Bay, Hooked a 500 Lb BLUE MARLIN on 20 lb test. The battle started at 8:40 Am and lasted to 5: 40 PM It was an exceptional catch on 20 lb test. We still have very good date available for the Summer Roosterfish season.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Weather: Windy, No Rain

Sea Conditions: Moderate to Rough
