The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Fish Report- The Independent Fleet
5-22-2008
Larry Edwards
The oncoming moon brought with it some super Marlin fishing as our
captain reported many strikes just 8 - 10 miles offshore. Even with
light anlging pressure , an average of 5-6 Marlin were caught each
day last week. Just a bit farther out the Sailfish bite remains
respectable as Captain Chiro on the Bloody Hook reported 7 Sailfish
for 3 offshore days. Captain Chiro also reported 4 Yellowtail Jacks,
Several nice Chulas and a mixed bag of Bonito for 1 inshore day.
Captain Adolofo also reported the start of the Roosterfish bite as he
landed 4 - 5 each day. The fish were in the 20 - 25 lb range. There
was also a noticeable increase in the number of baitfish in the area
which is a sure sign that the inshore fishing will pick up in the
weeks ahead.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather: Mild temps no rain, sun-cloud mix, temps from 71 nights to 88 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Calm to Moderate with temps from 80 inshore and rising to 82.5 offshore
Bait supply: Excellent
