THE IXTAPA-ZIHUATANEJO FISH REPORT - THE INDEPENDENT FLEET
5-15-2008
Larry Edwards
Very Light angling activity coupled with changeable fishing conditions made for a difficult picture in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo last week. Our captains reported that the blue water made wide movements last week and water temps continue to be below normal as several pods of killer whales were spotted just outside the bay. Captain Chiro on the Bloody Hook posted a 7 sailfish day and ended the week with14 Sailfish and 1 Blue Marlin Release for 4 days of offshore fishing as well as some very good inshore action on Bonito and Amberjacks. Captain Rafa on the Vamonos 2 reported 7 Sailfish for 2 days offshore. Captain Adolofo reported 7 Roosterfish to 25 Lbs in two inshore days while captain Cheva reported 6 Sailfish in 2 Offshore days. Our captains also reported a 450 Lb Black Marlin and several Smaller Blues for the week. Summertime has historically been the very best time for wide open Roosterfish action. We still have available dates and skippers.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather: Mixed sun and clouds with temps from 72 nights to 91 daytime highs.
Sea Conditons: 85 degrees inshore and rising to 86 offshore. Jumps to 88 degrees at about 25 miles, along the 1000 fathom curve, with surface breezes at about 10 knots
Bait Supply: Good
