To say that this day of fishing was better than the last would be difficult – they all have been good in so many ways, but the quality today vaulted this one into the realm of perfection. For a day of our style recreational tuna angling one could not ask for more. A nice easy pace of one to a few fish hooked at all times added up to a very nice total at day's end. Not that it was, or is, about simple numbers though. To just go out and compile a bunch for the sake of it is no feat right now. Finding then enjoying the opportunity to target the bigger, 90 – 150 pound class tuna is the real objective. And that we did today. Throughout the day just about every angler had their shot, or two, at a big one. Some won and some lost, as always, but the chance to yard on a real one was definitely there, especially during the afternoon. So anglers advance into day four exhausted and satisfied. We'll shift gears tomorrow spending a little more time spot targeting big yellowtail backing off on the pursuit of tuna - a few more of those and we'll be good. An easy pace, at least for a little while, will be well received; of that I am sure. Photos today feature long time Royal Star anglers Barney Wegener and Ron Hobson with one of their beauties landed today. Ron took top honors with a 144 that beat him up in the most satisfying way.
