Good fishing today by any measure. Beginning with a nice morning hit for a change we stayed put for the first three hours of daylight enjoying a steady scratch on quality yellowfin and a few yellowtail before moving on. The thus far consistent mid morning through mid afternoon lull followed providing plenty of time for one and all to service their equipment and relax while enjoying the sights all around.
To close out the day, and voyage, on a high note was the goal. And that goal was indeed achieved. Good action late, that we ultimately drove away from, was the perfect finish; nothing more was needed. Now a quick run across and clean up in preparation for the next run. Today's images feature a living Royal Star legend familiar to just about everyone around the docks in San Diego. Len Cunningham, at a spirited 85 years young, is still showing today's youth how it it done. My admiration and respect for Len can not be overstated; not only is he a great fisherman he is a great guy. The first of today's images features the familiar silhouette of Len in his signature floppy sun hat pulling on a morning good one. The second image features Len with his dandy coming over the rail courtesy of Paul and Duke on the gaff.
