06/16/16 Well we thoroughly enjoyed variety day avoiding the sloppy weather outside and logging some serious rail time. Not that jumbo gamesters were raining on from dawn 'til dusk – they weren't – but plenty of light hearted, stress free fishing was gained as we poked and prodded along the coast in conditions flat calm. After a full day on the move yesterday logging some serious miles in conditions none too great the contrast today was extreme in the best form. Plenty of laughter and good natured ribbing on deck is the sure sign of success on such occasions; and there was no shortage of that. To top it all off the originally forecast bumpy (and that definition is kind) ride up the line failed to materialize. We prepared for the worst and were greeted by conditions that diminished to right nice by dark. A harbinger of better things on the horizon? I hope so. Our final shot tomorrow will be taken offshore prospecting a new area in search of tuna, yellowfin or blue, closer to home. We enlisted four of the best in the business in the effort. Between our collective search I am very confident that we will thoroughly cover a treasure trove of historically productive ground. Photos today, courtesy again of Larry Brown, feature a couple of long time Royal Star veteran's mighty pleased with the quality yellowtail action a few days back. Eric Dahlkamp and Rolf Kuchlenz are all smiles in the moment; the expressions say it all.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.

A heck of a day of fishing to be sure. Aside from a self imposed intermission seeking variety to no avail the action on 18 – 25# yellowtail was non-stop. Excellent catching on our summer “bread and butter” fish that are both epic brawlers and superb table fare. Filling out limits, save for a few slots remaining in the event we encounter a real trophy or two up the line, we shift gears tomorrow heading offshore in search of the...... Read More
