The Right Ones

Proving the old adage “every day is different” true again the one's we were waiting for arrived on scene. Not in huge numbers, a scratch pace I would deem it at best, but at 175 – 230 pounds, with a few in the mix on either side of the scale, one during the day is all it takes. The same law of success I cite often was the key to results today. Time at the rail, nothing less, is what ultimately produced opportunity; and we were mighty glad for it. Two thirty was the fish of the day, honors going to yet another uber long range/Royal Star veteran angler John “Strokin'” Strock. But we failed to convert on at least a couple of other opportunities that would have raised the bar well above that mark. Call it a Friday the 13th curse or anything else; the result is the same – no fish, heartbreak, soul searching; defeat. One must not dwell on the inevitable losses though, they're going to happen either way. The chances are what it is about, and we got them. And we will get more. In continuing excellent conditions we are optimistic. Enough “filler” in the hatch now narrows our objective. Feeling that we are zeroed in on the right zone we have yet another three days to put in our rail time and complete the job. We take nothing for granted however; tomorrow is a new day. Photos today first feature the man himself, John Strock with his 230, and “Dr. Dave” Hall, a long range legend most deserving of such distinction, with a dandy 180 coming over the rail.
