Steady action

A fine outing here today. Much time at the rail, abundant action on mixed grade yellowfin, and a nice afternoon shot on the “skin" to round out the picture. Though not in the mood to complain, especially following the prior day's results, the size average of the tuna could be better. Much of the day's catch was in the 30 – 70 pound range. But the mix of fish over 100, including the day's largest at 180 and several others from 140 – 170, was reminiscent the “good old” glory days. I've spent many a day, and night, cobbling together a fine catch of quality tuna down here while culling through, and capturing, a bonus bounty of smaller fish. Toss in spectacular fishing weather and conditions and the setting again elicits no complaints. We're in good shape here; still with plenty of time to make good on the chances when they arrive. On the admin size we have indeed pulled the trigger on the impromptu 1½ day departing Wednesday June 1st at 1700 hrs. returning Friday June 3rd at 0600. The all inclusive cost of this “mini” long range adventure will be $550.00. 25 anglers max will be treated like royalty enjoying our distinct brand of long range fishing. Between the current offshore sign of 30 – 150 bluefin tuna and coastal abundance of beautiful grade, 15 – 30 pound yellowtail, the fishing side of the prospect is solid. This only one of it's kind voyage in the Royal Star 2016 season promises to fill in short order now that we have committed. Give Tracy or Brian a call in the office, or book your reservation on line if you can make it. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce a friend or family member new to fishing the elevated standards of Royal Star! Photos for the day feature yet another long time long range legend Jerry Goldstein both in action during this drawn out mid day battle, and with his vanquished trophy perched atop the rail.
