Suffice it to say that what we aren't catching here is not from a lack of sign; quite the opposite is true. Abundant life and fish showing in multiple zones simply hasn't translated into much in the hatch. We see, we pursue, we fish, and we catch very little; a frustrating sequence of events that provides just enough incentive to believe in the potential. At this pace however that faith just may be our undoing; the noose is definitely beginning to tighten. We're not suffering from a lack of comfort and spirit though; all on board are solidly into the program enjoying the scenery and chance to angle in the world's premier giant yellowfin destination. A little more catching is all we need to finish the job. Bright note of the day is a story of one veteran Royal Star angler who indeed did finish the job. Many a long journey to this paradise and Clipperton Isle have graced Greg Packard with abundant yellowfin tuna up to 197 pounds. Greg suffered a heart break a couple of days prior when a suspected jumbo eluded his grasp. Not so much today. Beautifully described in both of today's photos Greg made good on his chance this morning skipping the two hundred pound class altogether landing this perfectly proportioned 312 the old fashioned way. A hard pulling son of a so and so, I'll leave it to the reader to decide which combatant I reference, Greg finally prevailed after a grueling hour plus slug fest in the arena. A bona fide fish of a lifetime I am unspeakably gratified to see such a stellar individual respectfully earn his due reward. To close I'll fall back upon an old cliché: “This is what it's all about”.
