Much better sign today, and a little more in the hatch to show for it, but still far from the goods we are looking for. In beautiful weather though I have to say that despite slow production it was a fine day of fishing. Epic scenery, weather, and good company at the rail has a way of making things right even when production is down. Also, amongst the sign of jumping tuna from 40 – 200 pounds, and the occasional wahoo flying out of the water near and afar, it was easy to believe; the motivation to pitch out another bait was not difficult to muster. Still well on the front end of this run we are satisfied to stay put and bide our time. And speaking of fronts the prospect of a little weather blowing through definitely adds to the attraction of the present local. When the wind blows, and blow it will, there's nothing like the safe haven of an island lee. Heavenly it is at such times. Fishing first however; abundant time on the back end of the trip offers the promise of all available options. Judging by the photo one can see that Rob settled right into the routine having no problem gearing up and reefing hard on what became a fat 143 pound yellowfin tuna; a nice warm up for bigger prey to come.
