No De Ja Hoo
Hailing from the Midwest, I can assure you that lightening can indeed strike in the same place twice, but a repeat performance at Alijos of last year’s bite was not in the cards for us today. However, that is not to say there weren’t at least a couple of them to be had. Bob Ramirez, a regular on all the trips I take, started us off by hooking up the first fish of the trip on the troll (a wahoo), but Bob didn’t stop there! We only picked up enough for lunch, and Bob got three of them himself catching the other two on iron. The weather was simply spectacular today, and every one enjoyed a break in the ride and a chance to work off some pent up anxiety. Hopefully we’ll find a lot more Wahoo farther South when we start fishing for real. Tomorrow we’ll start putting together our heavy tuna gear, making up top shots, and hopefully enjoy another day of good weather and smooth sailing. All is well here and everyone is happy and still well fed. We’ll be travelling tomorrow but I’ll be back with another report then.

POEM OF THE DAY

The aquarium’s dentist faces
Great harm on a daily basis
If a shark’s teeth need filing
He’ll do it while smiling
But cries when a Wahoo need braces.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8092 to get in on the action.

Last year this trip stopped on the way down at Alijos Rocks, where we got into some of the best Wahoo fishing the passengers and crew had ever seen. While no one expects a repeat performance of such epic fishing, we are going to stop there tomorrow around lunch time and check it out. Our...... Read More

This is Larry Eilbott from St. Louis, and yet again I will be manning the keyboard to bring you the daily reports from the annual Izorline 18 day adventure. As my legion of loyal followers know, (well at least a few people know) I attempt to bring a unique perspective on trip reporting and will of course always make you smile with a daily poem. We got off to a fairly late start as the previous trip had the misfortune...... Read More
