Heading South
Today was a travel day, a chance to get to know each other, and a day to put together a couple of Wahoo rigs. Last year this trip stopped on the way down at Alijos Rocks, where we got into some of the best Wahoo fishing the passengers and crew had ever seen. While no one expects a repeat performance of such epic fishing, we are going to stop there tomorrow around lunch time and check it out. Our weather so far is all that we could wish for and outside of a little bit of tackle rigging, there wasn’t a whole lot to do today except eat. Speaking of eating, although it is very early in the trip, our two chefs Alex and Mark have already given us a “taste” of what we are in for meal wise, and it is impressive! Lunch was seafood spaghetti complete with shrimp, muscles, scallops, and heaven knows what other ocean delicacies, but it was fabulous. Dinner was even better, with a flat iron steak you could cut with a spoon and served with a portabella mushroom, and potatoes that had a unique blend of vegetables and shrimp unlike anything anybody at my table had ever tasted. Now we just need to work off a few calories catching fish so we’ll be ready for the next day’s feast. Not much I can add for now, I’ll let you know about the hoos tomorrow.
