Pristine seas

8/18/15 The day to day variety certainly keeps it interesting; and is a perpetual reminder of how much we don't know out here. The underpinings of excellent fishing seem so obvious at times – perfect conditions, plenty of bait, warm blue water, etc. etc. An impressive volume of fish in such conditions makes perfect sense. Then comes the next day when conditions are exactly the same and they are nowhere to be found – gone. Go figure. That's why, at the very least, there are still plenty of them around. A search mission uncovered much potential elsewhere, and a few fish in the hatch too, but no big production graced the effort today. In weather so pristine it's difficult to describe we scanned and scoured enjoying the scenery and ride. By day's end though we were ready to move on. In conditions such as these one must not be satisfied to sit and wait; a better opportunity to find them on the move will not be found. Photos today feature Denise Nakamura with one of her nice, twenty pound class yellowfin landed during an evening go around, and again young Caden Thorne who continues to be red hot at the rail landing this bonus forty pound class wahoo during a morning ambush by a half dozen or more of the wily speedsters.
