June Lake Loop Update
6-23-2015
Sheila Bell
The sun is shining (at least for a few more days), the birds are singing and the "BITE" in the June Lake Loop IS ON !!
This angler is happy to report the "Loop" once more living up to it's reputation as being one of the best fishing spots in the Sierra...
All of the Marinas are reporting an increase of stringers and large fish being pulled out of each lake. Fishing by boat or by shore, there seems to be no difference in the size or amount of fish being caught.. ALTHOUGH, the times of day is seeming to make a difference in the amount of "bites" and actual fish being caught... Early morning is producing a large amount of bites (boiling), whereas the afternoon to early evening is actually producing the largest amount of fish being caught...
June Lake is reporting some very nice STRINGERS with the largest coming in around 10 lbs and some very nice RAINBOWS and CUT THROATS being caught off of Garlic Power Bait and Inflated Night Crawlers. Thomas Buoyant lures seem to be making a good showing this last week as well. (see photos)
Gull Lake continues to thrill anglers with large RAINBOWS.. Either trolling or casting from the big white rocks on the far side of the lake (hint..hint) anglers have been leaving with nice stringers and a good story to tell for the next year....
Silver Lake is ALWAYS a good fishing spot with large RAINBOWS and CUT THROATS being brought in from areas around the shoreline and the backside of the lake. Rapala, Mice Tails (red and brown) and Garlic Power bait seem to continue to be the bait of choice. The" best catches of the week" go to Al, Anthony and Ed who I am calling "THE BOYS OF SUMMER".....
Grant Lake seems to have taken over as the place to catch those sought after GERMAN BROWNS. Trolling down the center with a fly either by boat or float tube is producing large stringers of BROWNS and the occasional large RAINBOW or CUT THROAT.
Summertime is here my fellow anglers and it is going to a BEAUTIFUL season !!!!
