June Lake Loop Update

5-12-2015
Sheila Bell

Mother Nature has finally decided to cooperate, at least for the next few days anyways....

Anglers have been pulling out some nice stringers out of June Lake with a 12.5 lb rainbow being caught by Tyler Depkes on what seems to be this seasons "bait of choice" garlic Power Bait.

Gull Lake seems to be holding a slow but steady pace, with "planters " and a few 3 to 4 lb rainbows being pulled out. Like June Lake, the" bait of choice" is Garlic Power Bait and for those anglers who are "old school" the ever dependable inflated night crawler seems to be doing a fine job of catching those "finicky" trout.

Silver Lake is always good for a decent stringer and if your lucky a nice size Rainbow, Brown or Cut Throat. Jerry Wedge from Santa Clarita pulled out a nice 5 lb Rainbow using Berkley "Mice Tails". The Fish in this Lake are most likely to hit an inflated night crawler, Mice Tail (Brown and red) or a "dab" of that oh so loved Garlic Power Bait.

Here is the BIG SURPRISE of the week, Grant Lake has suddenly decided to come alive for trolling Anglers. Grant wins the prize for the most reported Browns caught this week. " Browns,Browns everywhere Browns" are the words being spread across the Loop...

These Browns were caught on Taz Devils and the oh so favorite Rapala.

I won't lie to you, the last few weeks have been incredibly slow in the "loop".. But, if you are willing to put in the time and have the skill, the trout are out there....
