They're coming, but they're not coming easy; hard earned are sometimes the most gratifying, and a reward well worth the effort. Never looking to make it more difficult than it needs to be however, we have plenty of practice under our belts to suppress any guilt about easy livin', there is some admitted bridge frustration when this class of fish, in this zone, make it hard on us.

Suffice it to say that quantity is not at issue, there are plenty of the little devils around, but the size class we are after, mixed among millions of other, presently much hungrier, opponents is a challenge to test the nerves. Mind you there is plenty of fun to go around in the process of making this catch, a bite on something just about every time, and a splendid chance to fish with alternative gear for the simple sake of fishing. Poppers, lures, jigs - whatever, all were effective, and a good time for both visuals and action.

We're getting it done, in mercifully improving weather and sea state, but glory thus far has eluded us. The bar is set very high around here. From previous voyages and grand successes of legend soaring expectations are standard, and those standards don't diminish when the fishing does; nor does our will to meet them. But there are many times when the full portion of the glass must be viewed in proper perspective - you don't hit home runs every game, but one still swings for the bomb regardless. With tomorrow comes another at bat in beautiful conditions, and they day after that another. They will come.
