We prodded and poked our way into some fish late during a full day of prospecting. Bumpy conditions, the gift that continues to give from the last of Simon, added strength to quads and calf's better than any personal training program could before finally abating at day's end. One more day of lolling and rolling around should do it before Mother Nature returns this ocean to her more benevolent state. This latest spate served well to remind us of her tempestuous spirit; not that we needed any refreshers.

Good action on 20 - 25# yellowfin tuna, a handful of shots at ridiculously wily "skinnies" that yielded almost none, and a few decent dorado and other miscellaneous was the haul. Nice to do some yankin' and crankin' and put a few fish in the hatch; now to extend the trend into tomorrow, which is exactly the plan. We are here, they are here, and we aim to get them. An improving forecast and abundant signs are rightly fueling optimism. The show goes on.

Photo today again features one of the Hendrickson trio. Bob managed to fool one of these wily bastards with a light wire leader and make good on the chance. There were an awful lot of other chances that resulted in hook less ends of mono filament retrieved with conciliatory "he got me" acknowledgments. Wahoo fishing at it's finest. Devils.

With no break in the forecast and nothing but a day long slog gaining little ground or advantage ahead of us we opted...... Read More

10/6/14 A good morning of yellowtail action in the most beautiful conditions imaginable - grease calm, no wind, zero seas. Plenty of time at the rail was exactly what we were aiming for before taking off mid day for points south. Yellowtail accomplished now we stage for the next zone in the face of advancing Simon. In that respect it is safe to say that this storm is determined to assert itself into all of our business during the next couple of...... Read More
