This was more like it today; definitely the long range/coastal Baja California dream kind of conditions where beautiful
grade yellowtail were up and biting in grease calm conditions with a warm sun shining. It came hard earned, as I mentioned
yesterday, but in the end the price did wonders to contrast what this day had to offer. We were all smiles today. In such
conditions, especially following a couple of days of the opposite, it is impossible to not be.

Fulfilled and ready for the next leg of this run we worked up the lee coast in the late afternoon reveling success while
staggered by the natural beauty of this august cathedral. In general it is stunning, in detail it is mesmerizing. To cap
things off on a high note we shut down in a sheet glass natural harbor and took to the water seeking the unique therapy
that only a salt water baptism can provide.

It was a classic swim call moment almost akin to the timeless Caddyshack as just about all of us bum rushed the rail and
poured over the side in a ridiculously humorous variety of leaps, bounds, and dives. And after a few strokes in the brisk,
invigorating nexus to life we piled back on board purified and revitalized. There is nothing like a return to the sea to
settle the soul and place all things in perspective.

Beyond such antics we are again in serious fishing mode on the hunt offshore for the last of the variety we are intent
upon - bluefin tuna; in particular large bluefin, not that were are too choosy if we find them. As I forecast just shy of
a few weeks back there are still real deal opportunities at these quality bluefin to be had. Actually those opportunities
have been, and are presently being, realized. Full moon, calm weather, and bluefin of all sizes still here in mass, sound
like a familiar combination? Needless to say we are charging forth hoping that our timing is on the mark.

Photos today feature anglers Mike Henn with a fine yellowtail snared on the surface iron, and Ed De Guzman with one of
several quality dorado landed today and the far more elusive Captain Randy Toussaint wielding the gaff.

9/17/13 A productive day of fishing albeit nothing like the glory of yesterday. One thing certain is that they came hard earned. The wind was up, seas were sloppy, and overall conditions were rather trying wherever we traveled. There was no easy way about it; time at the rail enduring the not so sweet flavor of this brand was the winning combo today - if your program was about catching fish. Ours most certainly was, and days end found us remarkably farther...... Read More
