As all good things must come to an end this inevitable correction was almost overdue; we have been on the winning end of
things for a long while. Finding them was not the issue, we had three good opportunities at the right time in the right
place, but they snubbed our advances in no uncertain terms yielding a miserly one good size specimen for the effort.
Undeterred we continue forth implementing "plan B" optimistic about our chances. Today's results were in no way indicative of
Armageddon and/or doom - the meat is still around, big time. Speaking of which one very notable change was the new influx of
school size, 10 - 14# yellowfin tuna that have infiltrated the local zone in significant quantity. Along with their dorado
friends around numerous kelps this bodes extremely well for the local overnight and one and one half day runs.
At present with water temps perfect and seemingly more and more fish still pushing north, there is no end in sight. Don't
mothball the gear yet. Between numerous boomer schools of beautiful bluefin, loads of yellowfin from 10 - 35 pounds, and ever
increasing bounty of worthy dorado there is a lot of good fishing yet to come.
On this note we still have a few spots on the two final seven day runs of the season that are ideally situated to take
advantage of the continuing offshore opportunities that have defined the 2013 summer offshore season as one of the finest in
years. Last year offshore was no slouch but this season has taken things to a different level. The final two seven days are
Saturday the 21st. through Saturday the 28th, and Saturday the 28th through Saturday October 5th. Give Tracy or Brian a call
if you have time to join us.
In the present we are shifting zones in search of something a little more aggressive in the way of quality tuna offshore
tomorrow. The little fellas were aggressive enough today, and in good quantity, but we aren't quite in the market for those
yet. For most of them the liberty bell was ringing today, and usually will. Photo of the day features the brightest morning
moment with Royal Star veteran Darren Brumback enjoying the honors.

09/13/13 We started off the morning with a long drift on 35-66# Bluefin. Unfortunately they took off after about three hours of good scratching. After a bit of looking we found a spot of school size yellowfin and bluefin that wanted to bite. We had cast and swing style fishing for about half an hour and then it settled into a steady plunker. We took off towards late afternoon and went looking for a few more large bluefin to cap the...... Read More
