A real nail biter here as we started off in the right place but jumped the gun and succumbed to the adventure call
missing big time when the morning float occurred. It was another walk down memory lane as these bluefin exercised
their ability to neutralize one's strategy to perfection. Once they go down that is it - no amount of driving and
searching will produce - one must simply wait and endure. And endure we did as a few of our more savvy colleagues
racked up impressive morning scores. It was an all or none affair; and we were solid in the "none" department.
Recent reports suggested that we were in for a long, painful haul as the afternoon's have produced very little
during the past week. Bracing ourselves for the worst, without giving up hope, the effort doubled. Perhaps the best
news of the day was that we were not alone. Collective effort in this arena can be, and usually is a godsend. In
the case of this day the rule held true.
The afternoon produced one mega school that didn't exactly bite as we hoped, especially considering the amount of
fish around and under us, but got with the program enough to make our day and remove us from the dunce corner.
Forty nine of the 50 - 80# class bluefin produce plenty of smiles and restored confidence in every form.
Photos for the day feature George Green and Captain Brian Sims, and Steve Morgan and Captain Drew Rivera both
triumphant with their first dandy bluefin of the voyage.

7-15-20137/14/13 Pretty amazing what we are seeing in the way of this summer developing; the set up favors a late lasting season similar to the last couple of years. The tip of the iceberg appears now to have arrived in the local offshore grounds with significant signs of bluefin, yellowfin, and yellowtail extending almost two hundred miles south. While there is no shortage of offshore clobbering occurring at present, the arriving four day led by Captain Toussaint demonstrated such in astonishing...... Read More
