Steady progress, though still no big bonanza, as we continue to look at an incredible bounty, steadily accumulate
70 - 120's in the hatch, but long for the full potential of Clipperton to be unleashed. There are a lot of fish
here; finding the biggest of the bunch is the real challenge.

But as this is Clipperton, and there is more to live for on these adventures than just fishing, we took a mid day
break to get our first RSW tank ready and enjoyed a few hours respite that included some leisurely swimming and
snorkeling in the pristine waters along the reef. A worthwhile endeavor in every respect, this opportunity, in this
setting, is completely unique. And the spectrum of life beneath the surface matches everything in scope that we
observe above. Magnificent is an understatement.

With tomorrow comes a little different strategy as we open the bag of tricks to see if we can't coax a few more
jumbos from the mix. The weather is ideal - twelve to fourteen knot's of breeze to keep things cool and easy going
seas. We'll see how plan 'D' goes tomorrow then go from there. An adventure it is - it always keeps one guessing.

Photo for the day features our old friend and long time Royal Star veteran all the way from the Netherlands. Bart
"Dutch" Van Der Heiden landed this 120# class Clipperton beauty on the Marauder after a signature battle during
which just about everyone was convinced that it was way bigger than it turned out to be. Classic Clipperton fish;
tough, mean, lean, and determined to make anglers earn every inch. Actually that is an accurate overview of this
whole place in general. That is why we like it - definitely not for the faint of heart.

3/5/13 Best said it was a grind today - plentiful fish that were reluctant to bite had us on the move trying everything from A to Z from the pre-dawn hours through well after dark. In the process we stacked a few in the hatch, well, perhaps more than a few, but not nearly as many as one would figure based on the amount of fish we had to work with. So goes another day at Clipperton. The tremendous beauty of...... Read More

3/4/13 We made of nice day of it here at the island time forgot. No big hits, no big bonanza, no big cows; but a good steady scratch, especially in the afternoon, on 80 - 120's with a few smaller, and a few bigger mixed in. It was a good start that provided a decent preliminary lay of the land. Fishing highlights are by far a tremendous quantity of mid grade tuna and excellent water conditions. The weather could use a boost...... Read More
